Using Your Influence to Make a Difference

Every year we like to highlight how powerful it is to have a platform and influence online and we also like to showcase people who are using their influence to effect social good and change.

This year, in line with PBEVENT’s focus on influence, we challenged you to show us how you have used your “influence to make a difference”. The challenge was for the opportunity to speak on a panel with Daniel and Justine Flynn from Thankyou, to help both inspire and show how ANYONE can do amazing things with the influence they have and the passions that motivate them.

We received some amazing submissions from ProBlogger Event attendees for this panel over the past couple of months. At ProBlogger HQ we were inspired and uplifted to see how people are using their influence for good in many and varied ways. As much as we would love for everyone’s story to be told, it’s just not be possible to fit everyone into the schedule. But we have arrived at our two panellists to feature alongside Daniel and Justine in a discussion moderated by Emma Stirling….

A very big and warm hearted CONGRATULATIONS and props to Sarah Rosborg and Alexx Stuart! Their actions deserve more attention so Daniel has bowed out to create more time for their stories, and Justine will represent Thankyou.

How To Combine Your Many Passions in One Blog
The supposed necessity of “choosing a niche” has confounded many aspiring bloggers. Some people set up blog after blog, abandoning each one when their interests evolve (you know who you are). Others confuse their audience by writing interior design tips and ice cream flavour reviews on the same site — that is, not demonstrating how two disparate topics might relate. A third group remains completely paralysed, and never begins!

Emilie will talk about how to craft a multifaceted blog that allows you to write about several topics, and still feels cohesive.

Emilie will cover:
  • The niche blog vs the Rennaissance blog
  • The importance of having an overarching/umbrella theme, and three ways to find yours
  • Defining your audience, and catering to their needs
  • Simple exercises to help you mine your passions, interests and curiosities, and come away with new enthusiasm for your blog

This Masterclass can be purchased as an addition to your PBEVENT experience or on it's own (without attending the full event). You can register by purchasing Sunday Masterclass: Profitable Podcasting - Colin Gray

Podcasting is the online medium with the greatest potential for engagement. Audio encourages a very personal, 1-to-1 connection with the listener. Audio is also a ‘wasted time’ medium: because listening takes place in the car or doing chores, attention can exceed 1 or 2 hours. This combination of engagement and attention is potent, generating massive trust and credibility. In this session we’ll look at how we can use podcasting to apply that trust and credibility to a business. We’ll explore how podcasting can sell existing products, or can form a business of it’s own. If you’ve been wondering how to monetise your audio content, this is the workshop for you.

Expect to learn:

  • How podcasting can be used to sell existing products and services
  • How a podcast itself can form the basis of a product
  • How to design a podcast with monetisation in mind
  • How to design a podcast with success in mind

Productivity

Regardless of whether you are an established full time blogger or a freshly started one working on your blog after your “real job”, productivity is critical. And productivity means much more than time management. To be productive you need to know what you want to achieve, create processes to support this and use tools that will allow you to maximize the returns for your efforts.

Learn:

  • The importance of knowing what you want to do and where you want to go
  • How Pareto’s 80/20 principle applies to blogging
  • Why there is more to productivity than time management
  • How and what to measure to determine your productivity
  • Processes and tools to help you increase your productivity
Planning

If you want your best year ever you need to design your ideal one and that’s what this masterclass will show you. You’ll go from being overwhelmed and reactive to feeling in control and totally proactive about your next 12 months, including your business and lifestyle priorities, as well as your entire content, promotion and editorial calendar for the year. Plus you’ll learn daily productivity habits to make you feel like a rockstar and give you more time, money and freedom!

  • Set your vision for the next year and plan out your entire year so you prioritise what matters – we will map this out real-time together and I’ll show you behind the scenes of how I plan out my year
  • Take your big vision and plans for the next 12 months and put them into your own content, marketing and editorial calendar so you feel focused and in control – I’ll show you my calendar as a real example of what’s possible.
